| Dr. Donna Campbell began her career with a B.S. in nursing. She then followed through on to graduate school and received her Masters in Nursing from TWU, where she is Master’s prepared in two roles; (1) cardiovascular clinical nurse specialist and (2) Nursing Administration. While she continued working as a Nurse her focus changed and she matriculated through medical school at Texas Tech. Dr. Campbell has achieved two board certifications; (1) Ophthalmology and (2) Emergency Medicine. She currently is Chief of Emergency Medicine at two hospitals, both located in Texas. Working in both nursing and medicine Dr. Campbell was able to see an educational gap in regard to the care of long term residents. Her passion for these residents has driven her to plan and develop, in conjunction with Priscilla Layton, this educational program to narrow the gap. Dr. Campbell currently resides in Columbus, Texas with her husband, Stan. They have four daughters, Audrey, Amanda, Ashley and three year old Anna. |
 | Priscilla Layton has been a registered nurse for 18 years. Ms. Layton’s nursing experience is diverse. She has had the privilege of taking care of patients in both acute and long-term care settings through direct patient care and managerial roles. In addition to working as the Director of Nurses for a long-term care facility, Ms. Layton has worked as an emergency room nurse manager, Trauma Coordinator, Infection Control/Employee Health Coordinator, Staffing Coordinator and House Supervisor. Ms. Layton has been a provider of inservices and education to nurses in individual and group settings, as well as the coordinator of community and region-wide activities. Ms. Layton is certified in emergency nursing. In 2001 Ms. Layton obtained her certification as a Legal Nurse Consultant. She is the President of Layton & Associates and specializes primarily in medical & nursing malpractice, personal injury, criminal defense and insurance defense cases. The services of Layton & Associates include the review, analysis and summary of medical records, the determination of case merit, and assisting counsel with preparation for deposition, mediation and/or trial. While working as a Legal Nurse Consultant and concurrently in long-term and acute care roles, Ms. Layton became very passionate about the recognition of Long-Term Care Nursing as the Specialty that it is. Through her work with Dr. Campbell and many other experienced acute and long-term care providers, Ms. Layton feels privileged to promote “Shaping the Future for Long Term Living” through the Specialty of Long Term Care Nursing. Ms. Layton currently resides in Hallettsville, TX with her husband, Chris, and their five children, Logan, Chance, Ashley, Mallorie and Dallas. |
